All about Nattokinase: Should you be taking it?

Nattokinase has attracted considerable attention among people who have a vaccine injury after the covid jab, and who are looking for ways to support cardiovascular and cellular health.

What exactly is nattokinase?

Nattokinase is a naturally occurring enzyme produced during the fermentation of soybeans to make natto, a traditional Japanese food.

Natto is made by fermenting cooked soybeans with Bacillus subtilis var. natto. During fermentation, the bacteria produce nattokinase, a type of serine protease with fibrinolytic activity – meaning it can remarkably break down fibrin, a protein involved in blood clot formation. It has also been shown to provide cardiovascular protection through its anti-inflammatory support action and systemic detoxification.

Why has Nattokinase attracted attention around the spike protein?

The interest in Nattokinase after covid began with laboratory research. A 2022 study* published in Molecules investigated whether Nattokinase could degrade the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Researchers exposed spike-protein-containing cell lysates and cells expressing spike protein to Nattokinase and observed degradation of the protein in a dose- and time-dependent manner. This process works because Nattokinase is a proteolytic enzyme – meaning, it’s an enzyme capable of breaking down proteins.

When taken on an empty stomach (1 hour before meals or 2-3 hours after meals), proteolytic enzymes like Nattokinase are free to enter the bloodstream and target harmful protein structures in the body, dissolving the fibrin-containing structures seen after the covid shot (called fibrinaloid microclots). These spike proteins are known to cause widespread inflammation, vascular damage, blood clots, brain fog, myocarditis, and pneumonia.

In addition, a 2023 review* proposed a combination of nattokinase, bromelain and curcumin as a good spike detoxification approach.

Supporting cellular health

In addition to considering a supplement such as Nattokinase, it’s also necessary to support the body's fundamental systems: cellular health depends on adequate nutrition, healthy circulation, mitochondrial function, antioxidant defences, metabolic health, sleep and the body's ability to regulate inflammation.

That means there are many foundational areas to consider:

  • Nutrient sufficiency – Ensuring adequate protein, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals provides the raw materials required for cellular repair and normal physiological function.

  • Antioxidant protection – A diet rich in colourful vegetables, berries, herbs, spices and other plant foods provides a wide variety of antioxidant and phytonutrient compounds.

  • Healthy circulation – Regular movement, cardiovascular fitness, adequate hydration and attention to cardiovascular risk factors all support healthy blood flow.

  • Metabolic health – Stable blood glucose, adequate protein and fibre, healthy body composition and appropriate physical activity all contribute to cellular health. Fasting – or even part-time fasting which is extending the nighttime fast by a few more hours – has also been shown to help the body regenerate cells quickly and break down the protein spikes at a much faster rate.

  • Sleep and recovery – Sleep is an active biological process involved in immune regulation, metabolic function, tissue repair and neurological health.

Drive right past the drive thru, and skip a meal for "part-time fasting": the key to rapid cellular regeneration.

The right dosing strategy allows the Nattokinase enzyme to target the dangerous protein aggregates that accumulate in tissues.

Nattokinase: not for everyone

Nattokinase is a biologically active enzyme, not simply a nutritional vitamin. Because it has fibrinolytic and antithrombotic activity, it may increase bleeding risk, particularly when combined with anticoagulant or antiplatelet medications. There have also been published reports raising concerns about bleeding in certain circumstances, including using it alongside Aspirin.

For this reason, at Ezra Healing we suggest that anyone taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet medications, anyone with a bleeding disorder, or anyone preparing for surgery should speak with their healthcare provider before considering Nattokinase. It may also mean that your current health situation requires an overhaul: a wider conversation to review medications and suggest ways in which we can work toward reducing, and over time, eliminating medications completely, because staying on medications is not the journey to health.

If you are considering Nattokinase or another supplement for cellular or cardiovascular health, or suspect a vaccine injury, we encourage you to look at the bigger picture and contact us or book a consultation. We are here to guide and support you through your sovereignty in health:
