Your genes are not your destiny

For most of my career, I’ve watched people hand over control of their health because they were told what to do, because their genes determine their future, or because they didn’t question their healthcare practitioner. Those beliefs keep people passive, waiting, and often fearful.

I don’t agree with that.

What I’ve seen, both clinically and personally, is that your body is not a victim of your genetics. Your body is responsive, adaptive, and it’s constantly taking direction from how you live your life! That’s where epigenetics comes in.

Epigenetics is not about changing your DNA: it’s about how your choices influence whether certain genes are turned on or turned off. In other words, your environment, your habits, your stress levels, your nutrition, your exposures – these are the signals your body listens to.

So no, your genes are not your destiny; your lifestyle is the voice that tells your body what to do with those genes.

Why waiting for illness is the wrong strategy

One of the biggest mistakes I see is people waiting until something breaks before they take responsibility for their health. We’ve been conditioned to believe that health care begins when symptoms appear – and I strongly disagree with that mindset.

By the time symptoms show up, the body has already been under stress, imbalance, or dysfunction… probably for years. Disease doesn’t happen overnight: it often develops without obvious warning signs, while the body is doing everything it can to compensate.

If you wait until you feel sick, you’re already behind.

Health is something you build daily, not something you chase once it’s gone. That means the decisions you make today – what you eat, what you expose yourself to, how you manage stress, how you move your body – they matter NOW – not just later.

Reducing your toxic load is not optional

We live in a world where toxic exposure is part of everyday life. From the air we breathe, the low-quality of our water & food, the personal care products we use, and all those electronics we stare into… it all adds up! Unfortunately, there is a limit to what your body can handle efficiently. When that toxic load becomes too high, the body adapts in ways that are not always beneficial: inflammation increases, hormones become disrupted, and energy production very rapidly declines. This is where personal responsibility comes in.

I believe we need to be far more intentional about reducing what we bring into our environment:

  • choosing real, whole foods instead of processed alternatives– being mindful of water quality and hydration

  • questioning what we put on our skin and into our homes

  • supporting natural detox pathways through movement, nutrition, and rest

You don’t need to be perfect, but you do need to be aware. Every reduction in toxic exposure gives your body more capacity to function the way it was designed to.

Taking back control of generational patterns

Another piece that often gets overlooked is generational influence. We inherit more than just genes – we inherit patterns: stress responses, beliefs about health, emotional imprints, and even environmental exposures passed down over time. This is what many refer to as generational trauma, and it can influence how our bodies respond to the world around us.

'Generational trauma' can manifest as anxiety, depression, PTSD and toxic behaviours that affect family dynamics and health. "You have the ability to interrupt those patterns." – Dr. Tapper

But here’s the important part: inherited patterns are not permanent sentences. You have the ability to interrupt those patterns, and I’d welcome a conversation to show you how.

When you change how you nourish your body, how you manage stress, how you think, and how you live, you’re not just impacting your own health – you’re changing the trajectory for future generations. How powerful is that! But it requires ownership.

Autonomy in your health is everything

I strongly believe that you are the primary decision-maker when it comes to your health; not trends, not fear, and certainly not external pressure.

You.

True health autonomy means asking questions, being informed, and making choices that align with your values and your understanding of what your body needs. It also means recognizing that prevention is not optional, it’s foundational.

We’ve normalized reacting instead of preventing – but prevention is where the real power lies. When you take ownership early, when you support your body before it breaks down, you create resilience – you give your body the tools it needs to adapt, repair, and thrive.

Thriving is built, not prescribed

Health is not found in a single intervention; it’s not something that gets handed to you or simply a pill you can pop. Health built through consistent, daily inputs.

Food that nourishes your cells.Sleep that restores your system.Movement that supports circulation and detoxification.Thought patterns that don’t keep your body in a constant stress response.

These are not small things. These are the signals that shape your biology, and over time, those signals determine whether your body moves toward vitality or toward disease.

My perspective

I don’t see people as broken; I see people as overwhelmed, misinformed, and often disconnected from the understanding that their body is capable of far more than they’ve been led to believe. Epigenetics reinforces something I’ve believed for a long time: your body is always listening.

The question is, what are you telling it? Because whether you realize it or not, you are sending signals every single day, and those signals are shaping your future health.

You have more influence than you think, and the responsibility to act on that influence starts now. Book a consultation with me and let’s get your health back on track.

About Dr. Ben Tapper

Dr. Ben Tapper is a Nebraskan chiropractor, physician, husband, and father of five who has become one of the most outspoken voices in the global movement for health freedom, personal sovereignty, and medical truth. A conservative warrior from Omaha, he is driven by one conviction: to stand boldly against corruption, censorship, and coercion – no matter the cost.

He first gained national attention in 2020 after his Omaha City Council speech opposing mask mandates went viral, reaching millions worldwide and launching his public mission. His refusal to remain silent led to intense censorship and his designation as one of the infamous “Disinformation Dozen” – a label he embraced as a badge of honour in his fight for free speech, informed consent, and transparency.

Dr. Tapper now stands on the front lines of the battle for civil liberties as a plaintiff in a landmark federal lawsuit challenging government and Big Tech censorship. He is the Executive Producer of the documentary The Time Is Now and host of The Dr. Ben Tapper Podcast, where he challenges dominant narratives and exposes institutional corruption.

Grounded in faith and guided by the belief that this battle is ultimately one of good versus evil, Dr. Tapper continues to defend truth, empower individuals, and fight for the future of his family and generations to come. His mission is simple: his convictions are greater than his complacency. Ezra Healing is honoured to welcome Dr. Tapper as part of their Wellness Team.
