Should you build your own Protocol?

At Ezra Healing, we find there’s a growing trend toward self-directed healing – especially with all the information on the internet and with easy access to AI platforms. It may seem that it’s never been easier to piece together a “protocol” from articles, social media, and shared experiences.
On the surface, it can feel empowering – but healing is never that simple.

Why personalization matters more than ever
No two bodies are the same. Even when symptoms appear similar, what’s happening beneath the surface can be very different. When it comes to illness – especially in more complex situations such as with cancer – your physiology is shaped by a combination of:
your diet and nutrient status
your daily lifestyle and stress patterns
your age and metabolic capacity
your weight and body composition
your health history and current diagnosis
What supports one person may do very little for another. In some cases, it may even slow progress down.
This is where many self-built protocols begin to fall short, as they’re often based on general recommendations, not individual context.
More isn’t always better
There’s a common assumption that if something is beneficial, more of it must be better. In practice, it doesn’t work that way – even when using well-formulated, thoughtfully sourced products, dosing still matters.
Taking too little may mean:
the body doesn’t receive enough support to create true change
symptoms persist, leading to frustration or the belief that “nothing is working”
Taking too much can lead to:
unnecessary financial strain
difficulty identifying what is actually helping
Effective protocols are built on precision; there’s a reason why at Ezra Healing we design them.
In addition, it’s not just about quantity of medications and supplements, but how well they may go together. Are you getting the timing right? Are you taking them with our without food? Are there two supplements that are essentially doing the same thing in your body?
Why AI cannot help you
There’s no question that tools like ChatGPT and Google have made health information more accessible than ever: They can offer ideas, explain concepts, and help you understand the language of wellness in a way that feels approachable. But when it comes to building something as personal as a health Protocol, there are limitations that are important to recognize.
AI does not know your body: It cannot assess your current nutrient status, your detox capacity, your medical history, or how your system responds under stress. AI works by identifying patterns in information, not by interpreting real-time feedback from your physiology.
This becomes especially important when medications, therapeutic compounds, or even higher-dose natural interventions are involved. Recommendations in these areas require nuance, context, and clinical judgment. Even small inaccuracies in dosing, timing, or combination can shift an outcome!
When it comes to your health, approximation isn’t enough.
Revisiting your existing Protocol
The body is dynamic, and as such, it needs change over time. What supports you in one phase of healing may not be appropriate in the next. Timing, sequencing, and combination all play a role. Have you received a Protocol from a professional and are now wondering if it's still effective for you? Has it been so long ago that you cannot get in touch with them? Is your specialist too expensive - but you still need help?
Without guidance, it’s easy to layer too many products at once, miss foundational steps, or continue something long after it’s needed. This can create the illusion of effort without real progress.
Where professional guidance makes the difference
Working with a Wellness Professional brings structure and clarity to the process. So rather than guessing, we’re able to:
tailor a protocol to your current state
adjust dosing based on real feedback from the body
move through phases of healing with intention
avoid unnecessary products or steps
It becomes less about trying everything, and more about doing what is actually required.
Healing is personal, and different for everyone. This is why our Ezra Healing clients book consultations just to go through their Protocol: including an overview of medications and supplements, together with your current diet and lifestyle, and this way we can cater to your specific needs.
Sometimes the most effective step forward is allowing someone experienced to help you. Please, don’t go through this alone; our team is here to help you design a personal healing Protocol: Book a personal consultation today:
